What I can do for you (services + pricing)

Chances are, you were referred to me by someone else... and there's a reason for that.
When you hire me, you know that I'll be doing the work for you personally. Better still, I have no financial or political allegiances to any manufacturer. I work for myself and for you only.

Oh, and in case I didn't mention it, all parts are completely free of all markup. It's just another way I'm completely unlike the rest of the industry: here, you'll always get a clear-cut price.

When I perform a service, I go the extra mile to ensure everything is as it should be. Be sure to read the full description of whatever service you are considering so that you'll know what to expect—because again, this isn't your average computer service company.

One hour minimum on-site; ¾-hour minimum in-house ("bring-it-in")
Most service is completed in 1½ to 2½ hours of work (2 to 3 business days actual time)

Most services are completed in around 3 business days unless I warn you about workload when you drop off. :-) If you need yours faster, I do offer rush service, limited to one client per day, and subject to availability (it's not always possible, I do have to sleep you know!).

Here's the breakdown:

New PC Buying Help and Configuration ($149) - For $149, I'll save you hundreds

Considering a new computer? Most of the "deals" you see advertised are really hardly such. Why risk getting a raw deal? I'll put my experience to work and find you a PC that fits you at a price which is unbeatable... and then I'll even perform all of the setup, configuration, optimization, and testing for you, all for $149. This is one of my most popular services!

I make nothing in the way of markup. My cost is the same $149 no matter what computer we get, so my only incentive is to make you happy.

I can save you hundreds, not to mention the headache you'll miss. A few more bullet points:

No allegiances to any manufacturer.
No partnerships and zero percent markup.

Everything is in your name

In other words, I first put you on my waiting list of buyers.
Once I find something for you, I call you and we buy it together over the phone.
The warranty, order, and everything else is entirely in your name. It's yours, not mine!
I only buy when the price is right — Generally I save people hundreds.
I know what to get — I've bought a lot of PCs, so I know what's actually worth it.
And that's not all.  Once I receive the computer, I also perform the following for you:

OS setup and customization
Unwanted/junk/advertising software removal
Windows and driver update installation
New PC Tune-up and Optimization
Full Hardware Diagnostic, complete with detailed report
To help ensure everything's working properly on your new PC!

Got data you need from an old computer or hard drive? I can transfer it for just $30 more.

Once you choose me for a PC purchase, you'll never turn anywhere else again!

New PC Setup and Config + Optimization Only ($99) - Businesses: $109

If you've already purchased a brand-new computer without me... I'm sorry ;-)

Okay, I'm only kidding. But I can still help you get it set up in ideal fashion. This is the same as above minus the automation of the picking/buying process. I will remove all the junk you don't need, optimize your startup, tweak the settings, and install software that you'll actually find useful.

This includes security software and all. I have my preferences in that area, but if you have an opinion on the matter I would be more than happy to install whatever you'd like. Whatever the case, when the PC is returned to you, it'll be fully ready for action.

Bring-It-In ("In House") Services:
Triple-S Tune-up ($99 flat)    (or just $79 for a Silver Tune-up)

The most popular service apart from disinfection. This is a full-scale tune-up of your PC by someone who's specialized in PC optimization and software support for well over a decade now. There are two levels of tune-ups available:

The Triple-S Tune-up ($99) and The Silver Tune-up ($79)

Either tune-up is far better than what you'll get at the average tech shop.

My second-to-none Tune-ups include, among other items:

Startup Optimization
Unwanted/Unnecessary Software Removal

Temporary Files Cleanup
Critical Updates and Patches Installation (Triple-S Tune-up only)
Device Driver Updates (where necessary) (Triple-S Tune-up only)
Plugin Updates and Application Upgrades
Security Software Updates
File/Registry Permissions Resetting
General Minor Software Fixes† (Triple-S Tune-up only)
Performance Tweaks
Registry Optimization
Security Auditing
Service Assessment
Full-Scale Hardware Test
(Triple-S Tune-up only)
-Includes a detailed system report describing each and every hardware test!

Please note that tune-up work only includes minor software fixes. If more work is needed,
I'll let you know in advance. In case you're curious, the first service on most machines normally   runs around $150 or so, depending on a wide variety of factors of course.

Alternatively, I offer Silver Tune-ups for just $79. This is essentially a Triple-S Tune-up, minus the hardware testing and additional update procedures (Windows Updates, drivers, etc.). Most customers choose the Triple-S Tune-up, however, and I recommend it at least for your first service.

PLUS! If your last Triple-S Tune-up was within the previous 12 months, I'll perform your next Triple-S Tune-up for the price of a Silver Tune-up -- just $79, a $20 discount!

A Triple-S Tune-up is a tune-up done right. For more detail, check out the link below.

Advanced Virus/Malware Removal + Mini Tune-up ($88/hr) - est. 1½—2 hours

Quite simply put, there is no one better. I have spent years of my life developing a powerful toolkit I use to disinfect even the most hopelessly infiltrated PCs. Mere offline scanning this is not; I can remove threats that most other techs can't even touch.

Your data is also safe; my methods are direct and exceptionally effective.

Bring your infected PC to me and gain the peace of mind that it will be taken care of in the most professional and thorough way possible. And best of all, thanks to my unparalleled expertise in this area, it's unbelievably affordable.

Disinfection includes necessary operating system repair and other software corrections, including a significant amount of simultaneous tune-up work, unless you specifically request that I exclude it. This is because my primary goal is customer happiness, and I feel that with many modern infections, such related work is warranted. Remember, my goal is to make you happy so that you'll refer me to your friends and family.

Most disinfection is completed within 2 hours, and I don't cut any corners.

General Technical Support - Crashes, Errors, and Everything In-Between ($88/hr)

Random unintelligible errors? Blue screens? Video card not working properly? CPU smoking?

Whether your problem lies in the realm of hardware or software, chances are, I can solve it. I have an advanced level of Windows OS knowledge that few other techs can boast, and I own a wide array of expensive tools I can use to get the job done right.

I bill for tech support the way it ought to be done:

Hourly rate of $88 when you bring your PC to me

Zero markup on any parts

Billed in 15-minute increments after the first hour

¾-hour minimum

Most service completed in under 2 hours

Three-hour maximum for any service

Bring your PC to me and save money and stress.

Hardware Upgrades/Replacements ($88/hr) - est. 1 hour or less

If we're talking a mere RAM replacement, this is the only category where I'll actually charge less than my stated minimum... because anything else would be crooked. A few other basic hardware replacements also fall into this category.

Other items, such as video cards, hard drives (with data transfer) and so on, are simply charged on an hourly basis. Don't worry; under normal circumstances this stuff hardly takes longer than an hour or so anyway.

Backup Services ($88/hr) - est. 1 hour or less

To prevent sudden loss of data (which happens more often than you think), it's a very good idea to perform regular backups of all your Word, Excel, and Office documents, email, digital pictures, videos, music, and other files that would be difficult or impossible to replace if lost in a hard drive crash or other disaster.

If you haven't been backing up regularly, bring your machine to me, and I'll hook you up with a backup on whatever media you wish to provide (external hard drive, USB flash drive, etc.).

Don't have one handy? No problem! Remember, I also provide parts at zero markup, so skip the trip to the retail store and just have me get it for you instead. You'll probably even save money on the part that way!

Data Recovery (Most jobs just $349, or as low as $149) – Compare to $500 - $1,600+

(Read my dedicated page about data recovery and my methods!)

One of the worst things that can happen to anyone is a failing hard drive. An enormous number of reasons can lead to a drive failure, and they're shockingly common (a lot more than you might think).

If you end up in a situation where you believe your data is in jeopardy—for instance:

You can't access Windows

Your drive is making clicking noises

You're receiving error messages related to data/memory access

...then you should immediately request advice from a tech. That's because if it is in fact a drive failure, every attempt to access data on the drive can jeopardize the chances of successfully recovering your stuff.

When you contact me, we'll briefly walk through the symptoms over the phone. If, after diagnosis, a drive failure is to fault, you have two options:

You can send it to a data recovery company with specialized equipment and a Class 100 clean room and pay upwards of $1,000 to have it recovered

Or you can contact me and I can diagnose the drive for you. Probably 80% of the time, I can use my own professional recovery equipment and the pricey software that I own to recover
your data. If I cannot recover your data, it won't cost you a thing.

I actually own the industry-standard imaging software and equipment, beginning with the one-and-only DeepSpar Imager ($4,500) and including all manner of ancillary software. Most techs don't have these things and don't know how to use them. If you want your data but aren't keen on spending $1,000's with most other companies, there's no one better to help than me!

If it so happens that it's a mechanical failure, I can diagnose the drive with minimal interfacing (to prevent further damage to the drive) and we can discuss your options. If you decide that the data is worth thousands to you, it's time to send it off to a specialized data recovery firm. If not, I'll be happy to go ahead and give the recovery a shot. Again, if I don't recover your data, the drive diagnosis won't cost you anything.

Where I draw the line on my drive recoveries is any place where hardware repair is necessary to read the data. That means if a heads replacement, motor windings repair, or other invasive procedure is needed, I'll stop right there and refer to you the big (expensive) leagues. I also don't do PCB swaps as they're extremely risky. It's better to have the specialists perform these sorts of procedures. Finally, if a drive image looks as though it will take weeks to complete, I will refer you.

So what's up with the pricing, you ask? Well:

  • If the recovery is simple, it's just $149.
  • Moderately difficult recovery jobs are $349 (several hours of work, advanced equipment).
  • Although it's rare, advanced data recovery jobs can be as high as $699 (days and days of imaging and work and the most trying of all).
    • This same job would cost you as much as double most anywhere else!

Which, by the way, is still but a mere fraction of the cost of most other data recovery services! I will let you know in advance which category your recovery falls under.

Finally, yes, I can do RAID recoveries!—all RAID recoveries are priced at $699 flat.

Have me disinfect your PC and gain the peace of mind that it will be taken care of in the most professional and thorough way possible. And best of all, thanks to my unparalleled expertise in this area, it's unbelievably affordable.

If possible, it's considerably less expensive to have me do the work in-house. But if you can't manage to bring it to me, I'm still among the most effective and affordable on-site.

Whether your problem lies in the realm of hardware or software, chances are, I can solve it. I have an advanced level of Windows OS knowledge that few other techs can boast, and I own a wide array of expensive tools I can use to get the job done right.

I bill for tech support the only way that should be allowed:

Hourly rate of $100 on-site

Zero markup on any parts

Billed in 15-minute increments after the first hour

1-hour minimum

Many services completed in under 2 hours

I'm here to solve your problem the right way. Remember, I'm not your average tech. :)

(On-Site) Hardware Upgrades/Replacements ($100/hr) - est. 1 hour

No matter what you need installed or upgraded, I'm your man. About the only thing I typically advise against is a mainboard replacement; the only time this is usually worth consideration is if the PC is under two years old. Sometimes even then it isn't worth it however.

All replacements, such as memory, video cards, hard drives (with data transfer) and so on, are simply charged on an hourly basis. Don't worry; under normal circumstances this stuff hardly takes longer than an hour or so anyway. If it requires less time (and almost always it does), I'll fill up the rest of the hour for you doing general tech support or tune-up work.

(On-Site) Backup Services ($100/hr) - est. 1—1½ hour

To prevent sudden loss of data (which happens more often than you think), it's a very good idea to perform regular backups of all your Word, Excel, and Office documents, email, digital pictures, videos, music, and other files that would be difficult or impossible to replace if lost in a hard drive crash or other disaster.

If you haven't been backing up regularly, I'll hook you up with up to 2 DVDs (~9 GB) or 5 CDs (~3.5 GB) filled with your documents and irreplaceable files. And the backup DVDs or CDs are on me! If you need more CDs or DVDs, don't worry; my prices are very reasonable—just 50¢ per disc! You can even provide your own for me to use at no additional cost to you.

However, an even better way to accomplish this task is to provide an external drive of some sort to which data can be copied or the drive can be imaged. If you're in need of a drive, give me a call and I can help you pick one out.

On-Site Network Setup and Configuration ($100/hr)

Setting up your home network, whether wired or wireless, can be a real pain in the neck. Fortunately, I've done a lot of them. If you want to be sure your network is secure and rock-solid, give me a call and I'll take care of it.

If you don't already have a router, I'll be happy to walk you through the selection and purchasing process. Remember, I don't mark up any parts—so you can trust my recommendations without worrying about padding my pockets like those other techs.

I'll even deal directly with your internet service provider if you want. I know that sometimes they can be as much of a pain as the network itself, so if you need someone on your side to get things working properly, you just found him.

On-Site Personal Computer Training ($100/hr)

The "Personal" part means I personally train you.

Not everyone has time to be a nerd like myself. My wife tells me every day how much of a geek I am, and I just smile and turn the other cheek. Regardless, the countless hours I have spent with people teaching them the basics of computer operation have put me in a prime position to teach you the same things.

In a personal training session, I’ll spend a full hour with you and teach you the basics of computer file organization, operation, maintenance, and security. I’ll let you in on a few tricks to make computer life easier on yourself. And I’ll try to answer each and every question you have about your computer.

Hourly services are minimum one hour on-site and ¾-hour bring-it-in, and are billed in quarter-hour increments after the first hour. Most repairs are completed in under an hour and a half, except disinfection, which typically takes around two hours (depending on the complexity of the infection).

Regardless, needless to say, these prices are considerably lower than any one of those overpriced computer repair giants. That, and you know you're getting someone who actually really knows what they're doing and who actually cares about your satisfaction. You can't beat that!

By the way, let's say your repair takes five minutes. If that's the case, don't fret; I'm not going to just bail on you (unless that's what you want, of course!). I'll spend the rest of the 55 minutes of the first hour, for instance, correcting other problems or optimizing your machine if you like. I'm a perfectionist anyway—so it's in my nature to want to leave you with awesome results.

The Highlights

$88/hr (or $100/hr on-site) for most services.
Billed in ¼-hour increments after the first hour.
Professional equipment and software to go along with years of experience.
Zero markup on all parts. That's right!
The most reliable disinfection service anywhere.
If you want it done right, there's just no one better.
I'm independent.
I don't limit myself to any one product. I never partner with companies for profit.
I know what the heck I'm doing.
There are an awful lot of techs out there, but I know it's tough to find one to trust.
Again, I'm honest.
I won't sell you anything you don't need.
If I finish quickly, I'll gladly spend the rest of the time helping you with other matters, so you'll get your money's worth!
