Whole-home Wi-Fi, set up right

Wi-Fi That Reaches Every Room, and Stays That Way

A home network used to mean one computer and a modem. Now it carries work calls, school, streaming, cameras, doorbells, and thermostats, on a setup most houses never really planned for. In a lot of homes, that means one router in a corner, an extender or two added over the years, and dead zones everyone has learned to live with.

I design and install complete home networks around a mesh Wi-Fi system that covers the whole property, and I set up and connect everything that lives on it. I’m a certified eero Pro Installer and CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certified. Like all the hardware I source, the equipment comes to you at my cost.

What a Home Network Overhaul Includes

  • A look at where coverage fails and where your devices actually live
  • A mesh system sized to the property, with each unit placed where it does the most good
  • Current firmware, strong security, and sensible network settings from day one
  • Every device reconnected and tested: computers, phones, TVs, printers, cameras, and smart home gear
  • Streaming devices set up so you can drop expensive cable bundles
  • Network storage (Synology and similar) configured for backups and shared files

Most clients find that the monthly savings from cutting unnecessary subscriptions pay for the entire service, equipment included, within a few months.

Slow Internet? Find the Real Bottleneck First

Before anyone buys new equipment, I figure out where the slowdown actually is: your provider’s connection, the router, the Wi-Fi coverage, or the device itself. That last one surprises people. Between late June and late September 2026, eight of the laptops and desktops that came through my lab had Wi-Fi problems that lived inside the computer: usually outdated wireless drivers, or a bundled networking suite layered on top of them. One Dell XPS logged nearly 300 wireless driver recovery events in two weeks. The adapter itself was fine; the trouble was an optional traffic-optimization layer sitting on top of it. A new router wouldn’t have touched that. There’s more on that kind of work on my Windows troubleshooting page.

Equipment at My Cost

I don’t mark up networking gear any more than I mark up anything else. As an eero Pro Installer I buy at wholesale pricing, and you pay exactly what I pay. A recent eero 7 three-pack, for example, went to a client at $349. If you already own good equipment, I’ll work with it.

Rates

Home networking is on-site work: $196/hr, billed in 15-minute increments with a $250 minimum, plus equipment at cost. For offices, see small business IT.

What I Don’t Do

I don’t run cable through walls, and I don’t program Cisco equipment. When a home really does need new Ethernet runs, I’ll tell you, and I’ll point you to someone who does that work well.

Home Networking Questions

Should I get a mesh system or a range extender?

For most homes, a mesh system. Extenders are a patch: they often create a second network your devices hop between badly, and they can slow down everything connected through them. A properly placed mesh system gives you one network, one name, and coverage that actually reaches the far rooms.

Can you tell whether slow internet is my provider’s fault?

Yes. I test at the source and work outward, checking the provider’s connection, the router, the Wi-Fi coverage, and finally the individual devices. That way you know exactly what to fix before you spend money on anything.

Will you set up our streaming devices, cameras, and smart home gear too?

Yes. Streaming devices, TVs, video doorbells and cameras, smart home equipment, printers, and network storage all get connected and tested as part of the job.

Do you run Ethernet cable?

No. I don’t do physical cabling installation. For most homes, a well-designed mesh system makes new cable runs unnecessary, and when it doesn’t, I’ll refer you to a specialist.

If your Wi-Fi drops out, slows down, or just doesn’t reach where you need it, call me at (502) 233-4393. I’ll tell you what’s actually wrong before you buy anything.
